The Fairchild Garden in Florida is 75 years old ...
Hmmm, only a couple of years older than me and Methuselah ...
I always liked the name Fairchild. My wife's great-grandfather's name was Fairchild. I met him a couple of times many, many years ago. He was tall and very old at the time - he lived to be a hundred - and a really nice man.
As far as I know he wasn't related to David Fairchild - perhaps distantly - but the name brought back a flood of memories from more than 50 years ago. Those memories do have a golden tinge to them in my mind's eye just as the movies depict.
